Kind've disappointed by the single-player-with-an-occasional-friend approach.

I was told that the single player would not effect the game play. You can still join up and friends and run missions or instances.
The cool thing I think is when everyone joins up together it will effect the outcome of the mission.
IE: you are good and I am bad. If we team up and have a evil outcome, it will effect your faction and mine. SWEET!
Cheers!!!

I've been pretty pumped about this game for a while.  Is it actually going to release at some point?

More and more, developers, rather than just make an MMO, are just stretching the definition of the term 'MMO' to fit their game. By Bioware's own words, TOR is nothing more than KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6, etc., except with multi-player. To me, it just sounds like Diablo II and Battle.net with Star Wars skins. Thousands of people may be playing, but all of them in their own individual, and completely separate, games.

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks amazingly fun. But unless they release some info on content that actually supports hundreds, or thousands, in one zone or area(not just cities, ala Guild Wars), or unless they make it free-to-play monthly, I'll stick to games that are fine just being multi-player co-op games.

From what Joe is describing, he's right. If it's a multiplayer, that's great, and can still be an amazing game. But it wouldn't be an MMO. Which is really only the definition of a game tyle and not a variable of the uality of the game.

Since it hasn't been released, and they're a little quiet about really discussing the game unless it's what Bioware says they'll discuss, it's really hard to tell, honestly. They've talked about large open worlds that players can explore, and even mentioned battlefields. The problem is that it just never includes details as to how open or large these are and who gets to explore them. I know Bioware is completely focused on their storyline, and story-driven content, and this focused has, I think, stopped them from releasing details about the rest of the game until it gets closer to beta and release. So there's still a big chance they'll release or say something that completely changes my perception, but with the information that's official so far, and the repeated comment "It's basically KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6.." just makes it sound like a closed-off world.

I've also followed so many games from concept to development, and to release, that I know it can also be a good idea to keep your moth shut about features until it's actually in the game and working. So I have no problem being patient until they can discuss it in detail, I just won't get my hopes up in the mean time.

Yea I have heard for a long time that the story line will be amazing!
I just wish that the game will be like Star Wars: Galaxy, but with a Bio-ware story line.
Cheers!!!

So in interviews and a couple articles there's definitely a lot more information describing the more basic components of an MMO in TOR. At some point, I'll probably a nice descriptive post from what I found; but, I am lazy, and the devs should make the info very available soon enough.
