I'm interested in this game.  It also has gotten decent reviews.

The lack of pay to play monthly is another perk.
[Edit: UGH! "The basic game provides instanced PvE or PvP matches and access to Conquest, the ongoing campaign on a massive scale on a persistent world map is via monthly subscription."  This really hurts my opinion.]

Kc, please give a brutal opinion of gameplay.

Instead, they'll rely on DLCs, also very much like Guild Wars.

Sandstorm(the DLC they mentioned in that post) has already been released over this past summer.

The trial is free by the way, but when I get home, I'll do as much as of an extensive 'review' as I can of the gameplay, which insofar, plays like a normal shooter RPG.

Ok, so..

Based on my 20-minutes or so experience doing the quests, the game plays out very much like Tribes. I picked Recon so I get a SMG(which I can swap for a Ballista which is like a SR I guess, I haven't used it yet) as my primary and a super awesome katana as my secondary. From what I've seen, all four classes get a jetpack, a primary gun and a secondary melee weapon, 3 skill 'boosters', and 2 slots for 'upgrades.' You can also change out your armor types which add different stats to different things like HP.

Thus far, the quests are very PvE-oriented. It's usually talk to NPC, go kill this amount of mobs or salvage this from a wreckage or kill this mini-boss or collect these items from a monster. The first "in-depth" quest involved doing 3 side-quests to get the first one done. There is a lot of walking, running, and jetpacking between points but you can complete quests with up to teams of 4.

I have not tried out the PvP. I'll do that later on.
I suggest downloading the game/Demo off of STEAM so you can give it a go.

The PvP in GA sucks. At least, I don't like it. The game developers decided to leave headshots out of the game, effectively ruining Recon-Snipers, whose sole purpose is to take out the other team's support.

Pros:
-One large player base. There are no other servers so you and your friends don't have to worry about which server you'll pick, only which "Dome" Channel you're in.
-You can pick all four classes and play them under the same name.
-PvE is very solo-able.
-Large scale battles(when you buy the game)

Cons:
-You can pick all four classes but you have to level and quest each one separately on the same storyline.
-PvP is a clusterfuck of people shooting randomly at each other(think Team DM, minus the teamwork).
-The game is massive and the graphics aren't all that great.
-Limited class and weapon type choice.

Opinions/Comments: I won't be buying this. If I do go for a PlanetSide type game, I might as well just pay the monthly for PlanetSide or EVE Online.

mmm... i kind of like it. I did several pvp and there was quite a bit of teamwork and organization involved in a few of them. The PVE spec ops missions are sweet. I want to try the large scale battles but I need to purchase it... so looks like i'll be doing that. I capped out at level 12 in < 4 hours. I find the lack of mob/quest grinding to be significantly enjoyable.

It feels like Guild Wars' rpg style, low level cap, more skill/item/team oriented.

I like it. I bought it. Feel free to join me :)

21$ for a free to play ever changing online mmorpg/fps is a good deal to me.

I payed $200 for Guild Wars and its related expansions and I hardly even look at the game so I figure 30% off a $30 game is a pretty good steal that just happens to only be valid until today, or so I've heard. So I just bought it and I'm going to reinstall the game and hopefully, all will be good and holy and I won't get P.O'd for wasting money on this game.

I think this game exactly mirrors GW. Just way more weapons and the WoW skill tree. And you can jump, and there are like 15 different types of PVP.
