Sigh... so..
« on: August 20, 2010, 01:00:08 AM »
I got league of legends before it officially came out (whatever that meant). Which means I bought it (yes bought it) from a store (Waste.)

Either way, I wasn't terribly thrilled with it, so I removed it from my computer. (I had access to some special stuff and extra content but it wasn't validated until after the date I bought it.)

However, I've noticed that there is now a Division dedicated to this game. I'm wondering if somehow this game pulled up from behind while I wasn't looking, and is it worth playing?
Needless to say, I have it reinstalled.

A few other questions I had are:
Is it 100% free?
Is it a "free-to-play" but "pay-for-concessions" game?
Is there new content? If so, do I need to pay for it?
And over-all, how many of you actually play? Raw estimates are nice.

Some info would be great, thanks. :o

What sort of extra "stuff" did it come with?

Considering we have a division for it, I'm going to say we think it's worth playing :)  We have over a dozen (14 according to the "LoL Summoner Names - Find and Add and Play!" thread) and we have people playing nightly.

It is a 100% free to play but if you want to buy Riot Points to get extra champions/skins for those champions/boosts without earning in game "Influence Points" (in game money if you will), then you can spend real money to buy Riot Points but you don't need to.

There is new content just released, "Season One" is now open and there is always new stuff happening.  Cash Tournaments and regular clan related tournaments I'm sure go on often.  All of the additional content that has been added and will be added later is all free as well.

Basically, LoL was created by the people who made DotA Allstars the map it is today.  Also has people who use to work for Blizzard, and other very important people in the RTS gaming community.  It's gonna keep going up if you ask me :)

I lost the box it came in that told me, but if I come across it, I can tell you what extra stuff it came with.
Basically it came with extra champions that you didn't have to buy right off as well as some items.

Well, the info is nice. I suppose I'll give it a whirl when I get a chance.

Thanks.

Hi there.

Yes, come enjoy some LoL with us.

As Punisher has said, it is completely free to play.  Real money will allow you to unlock things a lot faster, however being the cheap person that I am.....I have spent zero dollars on the game.  While playing you get IP (Influence points) to spend in the store.  It takes a lot more IP than real money to buy things, but eventually you'll get there.

New champions and skins are released on a regular basis, so the game keeps adding new elements.

There are often IAM folks playing, usually at least enough for 5 man team.  So hop on and join us.

Be sure to check out the screen names thread and add everyone to your list.  And most importantly, hop on mumble so we can chat-chit and troll while in game.

See you there.

It's kind've like the RTS version of Counter-Strike, for me at least. Same simple concept, just so fun! I can do it over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

I just wish I knew more about which champions did what :\
