League of Legends
« on: May 19, 2010, 04:19:18 PM »
I know that quite a few of you all play Heroes of Newerth, but how many of you still play League of Legends?   I tried HoN when it was free and i just couldn't get into it.  Too complicated.  If you want to add me in LoL, my summoner name is IAMAnthro.

I tried LoL but I couldn't get into it as much as HoN. I like to deny creeps.

To be honest, I like HoN better.  I find LoL to be a little more choppy and I like the graphics better on HoN.
Not saying LoL is a bad game, I enjoy playing it greatly.  But if I had to choose, I choose HoN > LoL

I'm currently playing LoL with a few clan members and some other people we know.
We've been playing most nights since about October, so we're pretty well accustomed to LoL's version of DoTA.

I gave HoN a shot, but it was far too punishing (no pun intended [and again]) for me to get into as a new player.

I actually really liked how LoL would lay out recipe paths for you in a binary tree representation.

The only real problems I have with LoL are:
1. All heroes are not unlocked.
2. You cannot deny creeps.
3. Camera is stuck on your hero for the entire game.

1 - This is more of a laziness factor since they are all available if you unlock them one by one or purchase them. I also see this as a way for the developers to get money from their creation.

2. Denying creeps from being killed, although tedious, will change the pace of a game. A hero who is being rapidly denied creeps will gain less gold and will in turn, be weaker, and vice versa. It also allows for a more dynamic tug of war effect in a lane.

3. This is my biggest quip about LoL. You cannot view how other heroes are faring in their lanes except on mini-map, which has far too large icons with silly faces(which is silly).

1. You can unlock them with time and playing, or with money if you're so inclined

2. I don't even know what you're talking about, so it's probably just something to get used to.

3. Press Y. =)

Yeah! Press Y! Then it doesn't focus on your character anymore. Oh hell, that is so annoying!

Also, yes -- the denying creeps thing is something that HoN has that puts a new level into lane play. Just a developer difference, unfortunately (or fortunately?).

But, they are similar games and the ultimate goal is PWNING FACE.

Yeah, you can unlock them if you play enough, gather enough points to unlock them with and start over again.  I unlocked one and she's pretty fun, don't recall her name but yeah.  :)

Denying creeps means to be able to attack your own minions just before they die so the other team doesn't have the opportunity to either gain gold off that creep or to gain as much experience off of them.

Yeah press Y or go into options (I believe its in there...)
