[IAM] HoN Community, READ ME
« on: July 30, 2010, 01:33:30 PM »

First off, welcome to the HoN section. We have players at every skill level and there's always friends to play with. If you're new, take a look around at some of the guides, hop on mumble and meet the IAM community, and jump in a few games to play with us!

With that being said I'm going to keep the serious part as brief as possible but I'd like to stress the importance of a few points aside from our clan rules which can be read here.

For those of you already wearing and those of you striving for the [IAM] tag

1. If you've ever played even 1 pub game, you've encountered the unforgiving HoN community. It's one of the biggest drawbacks for newer players. Here at [IAM], we're FAR above this. Our tag represents maturity and respect. No one enjoys being rudely called out for anything. So..
  • - No Flaming: If someone does something wrong, be constructively critical about it and help them, they may not know any better.
  • - Be Mature: If someone else flames you, mute, ignore, or use the report feature if it continues and refrain from getting "even". It's not cool.

This IS what defines us from the rest of the HoN community, it's what sets us apart. Remember, what you do while wearing our clan tag REFLECTS on EVERYONE wearing the tag, be smart.

2. Help the new guys! I stress the importance of this one, ESPECIALLY with clan mates. Everyone was new at some time or another. A little history lesson, when I first began playing HoN during beta, I achieved an all time low of 1356 PSR. It took me a good month or two before I caught on to the basics just learning on my own. Learning a complicated game coupled with the current HoN pub community is a daunting task for any seasoned game veteran.
  • - Practice with the new guys: Although there are guides on here and HoN forums, nothing beats experience, obviously everyone wants to play with good players and continually up their stats, but it's always a fun time to play a few no stats and in-houses with the rest of the clan and new players
  • - Give pointers: Don't throw the cold shoulder if a fellow teammate is doing horrible. Don't be afraid to speak up and tell them what they are doing wrong.. Remember, if they know you are trying to help, they will listen.

3. Everybody enjoys the competitiveness of playing games. There's a big difference between trash talking and the occasional competitive taunt.
  • - Be Tactful: If you have to think whether you should say it, you probably shouldn't.
  • - Keep it light: Everybody enjoys good sarcasm and humor

Keep these in mind, one of the responsibilities of mine is being a deciding factor to who holds their tags, I consider myself a rather lenient person but I stress these rules to EVERY member and prospect!
As Squishy once put it quite eloquently:
Quote
If you feel that you cannot adhere to these guidelines, then feel free (or forced) to relinquish your tag.  I don't have a problem playing games with you, but I want it to be completely clear that you don't represent my division or our clan.

With all that serious business being said.... Squish did a fantastic job and left a great IAM HoN community, so look forward to a lot of upcoming stuff!
