My fav. quote -

Quote
Warren says hard-core gamers often soup up systems by adding motherboards, boosting RAM and optimizing graphics.

anyone have any spare motherboards lying around that I can add to my computer?

Final Cost of being a gamer: $17,017

A multiboxing WoW player doesn't even pay half of that.

"While Gordon uses his laptop to play Zynga games" says all we need to know about this professional tool.

he also says, "gaming will all be online".

maybe, but I bet you no one is paying $17grand for a system that will only play online push button games like Zynga's games.

Lets see how many things here are just broken:
NEED to have that universal remote and...whatever that FragFX Shark thing (oh, a mouse for consoles...) is, and it isn't a completely useless addition of 100 dollars or so
Ooh, always need to go with the super expensive, commercially produced PC (as opposed to, say, buying the parts and saving a few grand) And go for the TV/Monitor/APP-thing for a grand, can't just use a monitor that works.  And wireless anything...and a gamepad (well, those can be useful, but a wired 360 controller works for that)
Hmm, more crazy expensive TV's, a whole year of internet (with a set up that you should be running a server with, or a business) and not just surge protectors, but a big, expensive UPS!
iPod as primary mobile gaming device?  Eh, I like my DS just fine, thanks (and I've already got the phone :-P)
Kinect...meh.  Another 50 dollars in accessories for the kinect.  Meh again.
Really pricy headsets...though a good headset is worth it, but I don't think I'll be dropping 250 on that anytime soon.
Ooh, specialty controllers.  Because you can't play regular games with REGULAR controllers (though games like rockband do need those instrument controllers, one doesn't need to get a licensed Fender Guitar controller, just sayin')
System carrying cases...
Gaming chairs and storage.  Because if the chair isn't vibrating your ass, it isn't doing its job.
Cooling items, and disk fixers (which, if you don't do stupid crap with your stuff, aren't needed)
Games themselves.  I'll be honest, this may be the only thing you really need (other than the system) to make gaming work.  However, I doubt most "gamers" buy 30 new (are there even that many released at the same time anymore?) games at once, so that mark is just a little misleading.
AH, memorabilia and T-shirts!  Because you can't be a gamer without extra things that aren't actually part of the game (but they reference it, so it must be needed!)

So, 17 grand in, multiple TV/Monitors gotten, lots of extra crap that would never be used, and getting only a 360, but getting games "for multiple consoles" (even though only one console is ever mentioned in the whole article, and while showing a PS3 in the "games" picture)  This article has offended my most sensitive sensibilities, and I feel a need to do 2 things: eat dinner, and play games on my pitiful (As it didn't cost 3 grand) computer.

Oh, last thing.  Why do they keep talking about 360's but the majority of the images are showing PS3's?  Of all the clearly shown products, 2 of the 5 console (current gen) images were 360's, while the other 3 were PS3's (and the 6th was an N64, 'cause they're just awesome)
