Current Gaming PC Specs
« on: April 22, 2011, 06:58:18 PM »
OK I am new and don't know if there is currently a thread like this out there.

Here is what to do post the specs of your current gaming rig and a brief review of your experience with it so far.

I will start with my Newest laptop:

Dell XPS 17 with Anodized Aluminum Shell
Processor:           Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz / up to SC 2.93GHz
Memory:             8GB,DDR3,2 DIMM
Graphix:             NVIDIA GeForce GT 445M 3GB graphics with Optimus
Audio:                JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves Maxx Audio 3
Hard Drive:         1.0TB 500GB 7.2k HDD x 2
Screen:               17.3 in HD+ WLED TL (1600x900)
NIC:                    10/100/1000 NIC
Other Features:   Backlit Keyboard, Blu-ray Player, 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

Review: this is the best laptop I have ever owned. It takes anything I throw at it. I can run photoshop, Video editing software, multiple other applications and a game all at once and it doesn't lag at all. I would highly recommend this machine to others.

That's a slightly frightening video card you have on your laptop there...I'm afraid to ask how much that alone cost.
I'm running on a bunch of parts I bought as they became decent deals, and upgrades as they came along (more of just adding more of what there was, but it works)

Processor: Intel i5 750 @2.67GHz
Memory: 8.00GB DDR3, G.Skill Ripjaw series (4X2GB sticks)
Video: 2 crossfired Radeon HD 5770's (1GB each)
Audio: The video cards (HDMI, so "monitor" [it's a TV] speakers) unless using headphones, then my Razer Carcharias (yay big headphones)
HD: 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda @5900RPM (slow, but it works)
Screen: Insignia TV (29 inches WS, again, yay HDMI)
Other stuffs: Saitek Cyborg keyboard (the older one, but it works [and is backlit {red}]) Razer Death Adder 5 button mouse (yay extra buttons)

It isn't the most powerful thing out there (heck, I put together a rig for a friend with a shinier processor/video card [but just one] and whatnot) but it was under 1K, and that's something I'm proud of.

Bought my current gaming rig and assembled it back Easter of last year.

Thermaltake full-tower case
Corsair 1000w+ Gold rated P/S (based on Seasonic design)
Asus P6T6 WS Revolution (X58/ICH10R/NF200, true 3-way x16 PCIe)
Intel Core i7 920 (OC)
OCZ HP1333 @ 12GB - Triple Channel
2x BFG GTX 285 OC (Originally had 3 cards, but triple SLI proved no benefit at 1920x1080 so I ebay'd one of them)
4x Seagate 500gb Barracuda 7200s in RAID0
Microsoft Wireless 5000 series M+KB

Hooked up to a 65" Mitsubishi 1080p 120hz3D DLP, and an Onkyo TX-SR608 7.2 receiver.

My experience with it so far has been pretty sweet. I can run Crysis with all settings on very high, 16x anti aliasing, at 1920x1080, and at the lowest, the FPS sags to about 45. Haven't run anything new that is crazy like Metro2033 that they're using to benchmark now days, but Crysis, as inefficient as it is, is still a pretty good benchmark.

Processor: Intel Pentium E5300 @ 2.4GHz
Motherboard: MSI P43 Neo3-F (PCB 1.0)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 4GB, DDR2 1067
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 460 1GB
Audio: Creative Fatal1ty USB Headset
Hard Drive: 500GB WD 7200RPM
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 600W ATX12V
Mouse: Logitech G500
Monitor: Sony 17" LCD Monitor
Keyboard: Microsh@ft Comfort Curve
Networking: Sabrent USB 802.11 b/g/n 300MBPS

Review: Works great when it works. Pisses me off when it doesn't. Probable motherboard/BIOS issue as Windows XP, Vista, 7, Ubuntu and Mint(Linux) have issues with it.
Graphics updated from 9800GT: Worked great, no issues.| GTX460: Graphics is bottlenecked by CPU, but can run highest settings on basically everything I own.
PSU: Replaced 650W GlacialTech because the fan was broken and not covered by warranty.

Memory:             16GB,DDR3
Graphix:             AMD Radeon HD 6870

Hard Drive:         90gb OCZ Vertex2 SDD, 500gb Caviar Black for storage.

Processor:           Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4400 @ 2ghz
Memory:              1gig, DDR2?
Graphix:               Nvidia GeFore 8500
Audio:                  Some sort of Realtek onboard audio
Hard Drive:          500gb Western Digital 7200rpm HDD that has died 3 or 4 times and been fixed by hitting, sure it will go any day now.
Screen:               17" Hewlett Packard Ultra VGA 1280 CRT monitor

Mouse and keyboard are just microsoft USB. I was using a mouse with a ball up until a couple weeks ago, they don't make them like they used to. Optical mice just blow.

And yes, I am very serious.

I built this thing a couple of years ago, so i'm typing from memory here.

Case:              Cooler-Master Elite ... can't remember the model number.  It's mostly plastic and extremely thin steel so it doesn't weigh hardly anything.  Love it
Motherboard:  Asus P5QL-Pro
Processor:       Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 clocked at stock 2.4ghz
Memory:         2 x 2gb OCZ extreme DDR2 1066
HD:                500GB Western Digital SATA2
Vid Card:        PNY Geforce GTX260
Monitor:         Hans-G 22 inch LCD
Audio:            Onboard intel ICH10, AC '97 with Plantronics Gamefly headset

I've built 4 gaming computers for myself (I've easily built twice that many, but only 4 of them were for my main gaming rig).  The previous 3 were all AMD based, this is my first intel setup.  This setup has easily been the most stable for me.  In the previous 3, I started encountering bios issues, memory issues, etc...  My last rig had an ATI vid card, and I can safely say that's the last ATI card I will ever own.  This setup runs Ubuntu like a dream, and isn't overly slow in Window$ Vista.  The only issues I have had with my rig have been purely because Vista is a giant piece of programming excrement.

Also this thing plays everything I continue to throw at it.  Not sure if it will meet BC3 specs, but for the time being, I have no plans for upgrading because I haven't needed to.

Yea it is the best laptop I have ever owned. It cost me $1800. I am just pissed cause the video card can do 3d but the screen cannot. They released one that has a 3d capable screen 2 months after I bought mine.
