« on: June 04, 2011, 12:13:46 PM »
So.. Heres what I currently have in mind.

Case:
Antec 900-2 V3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129097

Harddrives:
WD 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0 Gb/s  (x2)  Probably gonna RAID-1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

Video Card:
EVGA GTX 570 1280MG 320-bit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130595

PSU:
CORSAIR 850W Modular CMPSU-850HX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011

Memory:
CORSAIR 2x4GB PC3 12800 DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144

Motherboard:
GIGABYE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128500

CPU:
I7-2600k 3.4 Ghz unlocked :)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070

OS:
Windows 7 64-bit Pro

CPU cooler:
CORSAIR Hydro H70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181013

Thoughts:
I was thinking of getting a cheap small SSD for the OS install.  Prob a 32GB or something.
I could just buy the Video card and PSU and drop it in my current rig to fix the dead 8800 GTS I am still using... but where would be the fun in that??

Please provide feedback and if you have some spare time, possible money savers with different products with similar specs.

I agree with the SSD for OS, and if you want 8gb of ram get 4 2gb sticks, more channel bandwith that way, atleast I think it is. im quite positive thats how it works.

Not sure if you were just trying to be cool or what but you spelled computer in the title wrong. lol..

Well, if we're talking about cases...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146060&Tpk=lexa%20s is what I use, and I haven't had any cooling issues, and there's plenty of space for all the crap I'm sitting on.

Looks like a nice build though, I see no problems (other than it costing money...damn money, getting in the way of having the best stuff)

I have the 1kW version of that Corsair HX power supply cross... they are pretty bad ass. It's a Seasonic design, and definitely one of the best that you can buy.

Looks like a solid build. You buying heavy duty thermal grease and all that?

The only other thing I looked for on that mobo was that the realtek 889 chip supports DTS Connect/Dolby Live which encodes your games' 5.1-7.1 sound and outputs it over optical/coax/hdmi... It does, but I couldn't find any information on whether Gigabyte enabled the option, or provides the software to do it. Their audio driver package was like 70 some MB, so it may, but if it does not, you might want to consider adding a nice dedicated card for your audio experience so you can have 1-wire hookup for your audio and keep it digital.

"heavy duty thermal grease", synthetic diamond is the way to go, better heat conductivity..

Hey, when I looked at your mobo, I saw the smart response ssd option and having never heard of it, I thought I'd go read up.  Did you ever think of getting an ssd to take advantage of this?  it looks pretty damn cool and would allow you to speed up more than just your OS when configured.

Yeah, that's Intel's fancy shmancy new hybrid storage option. I'd read a review of it before but I can't remember what the conclusion was of it... There's also a company manufacturing a x1 board that has a small SSD (2.5") mounted right on it that is a SATA 6gb controller that allows you to do this too for boards not equipped with SR, and they claim it gives the same performance boost.
