I agree with the reliability of them statement. Can barely find a teenager these days who isn't standing around at one point texting on their phone... And that's another thing that bugs the hell out of me, why sit there and type on those dinky little keyboards when you can just pick the goddamn thing up and say in 10 seconds what you text in 5 minutes...?

Yeah, it bugs me sometimes too. You're not the only one.... But teenagers around annoying in general anyway. I'd say about 3/5 of them

Not really...  Just adding to the fact I pay at least 90/month for my Canadian Cell Phone.  Thought I was contributing to the conversation :P  It's rediculous how much we have to pay to get a decent plan

I pay about $60 USD a month, back with my Iphone I used to pay twice cause I wasn't in a unlimited internet plan, so my bill rates where ridiculous some times, now with the blackberry I hardly even make a phone call, it's actually starting to get weird (and yes they tend to look at you like if you are retarded) if you don't have a BB Pin or at least a smarthphone with unlimited internet, so yeah your phone chart is a little old.

Although I was watching the news the other day and Mexico is the country that has the cheapest prices on smartphones and the country with most smatphones in latinamerica.

I am sorry, I understand how awesome it would be to have internet at your finger tips all the time, but I am never going to pay that much for it. Not to mention how much it costs to buy a "cool" phone that everyone wants these days.... And then they just break, and you have to buy another one...

Cell phones have to be the CHEESIEST items on the market, you can break them without even trying, and they cost so goddamn much for $15 in material?

shrug... my droid has been a bad ass piece of equipment i use on a daily basis in an environment as dirty, dusty, and extreme as an asphalt plant can get. whether live on the wireless network of the plant or over 3G, i use it to monitor things on the plant, make adjustments, fuck with whoever is operating at the moment, or actually run the plant itself.

For unlimited texting, and at least 500 minutes a month, you gotta pay over 50 dollars/mo, and the other 30 isn't too bad for unlimited interwebs. plus all the fees and taxes and shit, and the 10 bucks for insurance... 105 a month isn't bad at all.

Go take an operations class.... the material cost for electronics isn't what makes them expensive. It's the R&D, labour, manufacturing process (Including processing of materials and such), along with shipping (Shiping via roadways is very expensive), markup for supplier (Why sell it if they get no money? that's why there's discounts with contracts), and quite a few other costs (such as covering labour, insurance, overhead, other departments such as HR, marketing, managements).

The cost of cellphones themselves is actually justifiable.  But I agree that some phones are dicks when it comes to moisture damage.... my blackberry curve had apparent water damage and the only time I can think of it getting wet is moisture when sometimes leaving it on the counter in my bathroom when I take a shower. Rather disapointing that steam can do that. But I think touchphones have less of an issue with that. And they'd be smart to make seamless keypads for phones like certain keyboards.

I want a phone that I can throw on the ground in anger, then pick it back up to yell at somebody about it!  My old phone (Samsung a830 or something... competition wiht eh razor did that). Damn smartphones.... like an inbred showdog that wins the prize but falls apart inexplicably... or cancer.
