Rooting/Installing new roms on a Evo Shift

I've been looking at the SDX forums, And for some odd reason it confuses the living shit out of me compared to putting stuff onto my moms intercept or my old moment.

http://forum.sdx-developers.com/applications-and-games/%28app%29-flash-image-gui
( Links above except for the GUI are just links to some of the stuff on sdx forums and is not particularly what I want on my phone also looking for reccomendations anyone has from experience on what I should put on here considering any of you have a shift.)
Basically if anyone here has done this before (Mine was much simpler compared to this and it seemed like instructions were more detailed for my old phone)
End result I want something I can control clock settings through setcpu with cause I'm tired of the stock sense shit having its HORRID lag problems occasionally. there are times where I can write up a whole fucking text message and it takes literally 5 seconds for each letter to be input but I finished pushing all the keys 3 minutes before. So typically I just restart the phone.
